<p>Still, without complete knowledge of the process, I concluded that my inability to present my voter registration card would not be a problem.1: My name should be on the roll for the 5th Ward.3: This is Hyde Park. Certainly, she has moved to some picket-fence house in some far away place where there are no black people. I am assuming that she believed the youngsters milling about the area in broad daylight were gangsters, plotting her very own murder. I was willing to trek to my Loop office and backtrack to the South Side &#8211; if need be. She may be voting for Obama at this very moment &#8211; feeling good about herself. I had braced myself to listlessly shuffle my feet in queue for the next ten hours.Never mind that.2: This is the South Side of Chicago.So.. I surmised that the thing was somewhere in my office. As I exit my residence, I observe that the paperwork does not actually carry any cards &#8211; but is rather a&nbsp;notice, reminding me to vote early and identifying my local polling station. The night beforehand, I had frantically searched my apartment to find my voter registration card, and laid the document out plainly on the kitchen counter.My neighborhood is the epicenter of Barack ObamaMy thoughts wandered to a former neig youth grant hbor. This white woman was so terrified of Cottage Grove Avenue that she actually refused to vote in the most recent mid-term elections.I wake up, ready to vote.Egads!At that moment, I was not certain if I would be barred from casting my ballot without carrying the voter card..
